Ayurvedic Diet: Eating for Your Dosha
In Ayurveda, food is medicine. Eating according to your dosha type can dramatically improve your digestion, energy levels, and overall health. Here's a guide to dosha-appropriate eating.
Vata-Pacifying Diet
Vata types benefit from warm, moist, grounding foods. Include cooked grains like rice and oatmeal, root vegetables, soups, stews, healthy oils, and warming spices like ginger and cinnamon. Avoid cold, dry, and raw foods.
Pitta-Pacifying Diet
Pitta types need cooling, non-spicy foods. Enjoy sweet fruits, vegetables, coconut, dairy, rice, and cooling herbs like mint and coriander. Avoid spicy, fried, and sour foods, as well as alcohol and caffeine.
Kapha-Pacifying Diet
Kapha types thrive on light, warm, dry foods. Include bitter and astringent vegetables like leafy greens, beans, spices like turmeric and black pepper, and light fruits. Avoid heavy, oily, sweet, and cold foods.
